The “Discover Huaral” Web Platform Launched to Boost Tourism and Local Development in the Chancay River Basin

  • The Provincial Municipality of Huaral and the company Sindicato Energético S.A. (SINERSA) have formed an alliance to launch this new digital tool.
  • The project aims to showcase the cultural, natural, and gastronomic riches of the province as a first step toward generating sustainable development and employment in the area.

Huaral. With the goal of positioning the Chancay Valley as a top-tier tourist destination, the Provincial Municipality of Huaral and the company Sindicato Energético S.A. (SINERSA) officially launched the “Discover Huaral” web portal, available at www.descubrehuaral.com, a platform that brings together the province’s main attractions. The launch seeks to be a turning point for the economic development of the basin, leveraging its natural, cultural, and tourism resources, and fostering sustainable growth in its communities.

  • The project aims to be a turning point for the economic development of the basin, taking advantage of its natural, cultural, and tourism resources, and promoting sustainable growth in its communities. The project presentation included the participation of the municipality’s tourism manager, representatives from SINERSA, and the provincial mayor of Huaral. The authorities agreed on the importance of this strategic alliance as a crucial first step in showcasing the richness of Huaral’s culture, its renowned gastronomy, its customs, and its natural landscapes to Peru and the world.

This initiative arose to address a specific paradox in the Chancay River basin. Currently, the area boasts abundant hot springs, important historical monuments, and a vast wealth of landscapes and cultural heritage; however, much of this potential remains untapped, limiting employment opportunities for the local population.

The Role of the Alliance
In this context, the collaboration between the public and private sectors is key. SINERSA, the company that owns two hydroelectric plants in the upper part of the basin, has focused its social support activities in this area, characterized by high demand for services and a limited government presence.

“This website is just a first step,” the project’s promoters stated during the event. The plan for the future is to expand and constantly update the portal. The goal is to consolidate it as a reliable digital site and a benchmark for comprehensive tourism promotion at the local, national, and international levels.

The platform www.descubrehuaral.com will foster the active participation of the local population, highlighting the region’s tourism value by promoting its lodging, gastronomy, guided hikes, and cultural activities. All of this is aimed at boosting the social and economic development of the province and the communities in the highlands.

SINERSA reaffirmed its commitment to continue participating in strengthening this tourism offering, seeing it as a real option for sustainably improving the living conditions of the local population.

An Interactive Launch
During the presentation, interactive demonstrations of the website were held. Attendees from different districts and communities were invited to participate; upon viewing the video of their area on the platform, they received a commemorative t-shirt for the event.

Attendees also enjoyed a selection of traditional dishes from the province and a convivial atmosphere with snacks and cocktails offered before and during the presentation. At the close of the event, the Tourism Management Office presented commemorative pins to all attendees and a special package to representatives of district organizations, which included bags, mugs, and hats featuring the new “Discover Huaral” logo.
