SINERSA promotes education: six young people have access to scholarships to study at UDEP

Six young people from Piura, children of farmers in a situation of economic vulnerability, will begin a new stage in their lives thanks to the scholarships granted by the electric generation company SINERSA. Through its social responsibility program, the company reaffirms its commitment to the development of the region by facilitating access to higher education at the University of Piura (UDEP).

The beneficiaries are Ana María Temoche Jaramillo and Fabricio Moisés Chiroque Mejía, who will study Mechanical-Electrical Engineering; Josué Nemesio Correa Merino, Gustavo Alonso Antón Valdivia and Joaquín Lorenzo Chulle Dedios, who will study Industrial and Systems Engineering; and Rubén Absalón Chunga Arteaga, who will pursue a career in Architecture.

The SINERSA scholarship program was created in 2004 after the signing of an agreement with UDEP and, since then, it has been a pillar in the training of young talents. To date, 23 scholarship recipients have graduated from the university, while 18 are in full academic development. With the incorporation of these six new students, the number of active scholarship recipients will rise to 24.

Commitment to social development

This year’s call for applications was made through the three user boards of Piura, ensuring that the opportunity reaches young people from agricultural families. In this edition, five scholarships were awarded to children of farmers and one to a child of a SINERSA worker.

“We are convinced that education is the best tool to transform lives and strengthen our communities. Through this program, we are betting on the talent of young people and their professional future,” said engineer Víctor Contreras Quelopana, superintendent of Plants in Piura, during the presentation of the new beneficiaries.

In line with its social responsibility policy, SINERSA maintains its focus on the development of communities close to its operations at the Poechos and Curumuy hydroelectric plants. With this initiative, the company not only provides educational opportunities, but also actively contributes to the progress of the region.
